Well, as near as I can tell I will be converted by the time I am done with this trip! Today we learned about all sorts of Catholic feast days/ St. Joseph and the necessary elements for observance. The ritual bread dough are pieces given as an offering when making a request (or a thank you) to the saint. The little museum was located up about 100 steps and then a couple of steep streets! (oy!) It was fascinating with all of it's examples of bread dough that have been made over time. During the big feast of St. Joseph they (not sure who??) go down the street throwing out little round decorative loaves of bread for the poor people.
The specialty items are made to be placed on an altar that is 3 tiers; especially made for this celebration. Quite involved.3 tiers: for the Father-Son & Holy Spirit.
After spending some time to make our own ritual bread dough pieces, we walked through the little town again and then left to have a small lunch nearby. We had the opportunity to stop and visit the tiny village of Scopello which is quite near our hotel. Most interesting thing there: a wedding going on! We saw the men all dressed in special uniforms (but they wouldn't let me take their photo). They did let me go to the area with the wedding and take a couple of pix. Back to the hotel; begin packing up; group dinner tonight. It has been a really great trip!
