A bit confusing, but the ship begins in Avignon, sails south to the City of Arles, and then back to Avignon. Arles is famous because Van Gough painted here and was "installed' in the asylum here after he cut off part of his ear! It's a crazy story about his history. However, the actual excursion we wanted took today was to the Camargue and then the city of Arles. The Camargue is a wonderful area of France, a regional park and famous for it's white horses and small towns. A great part of it is owned by a small town (Saintes Maries-de-la-Mer) Much is a protected area and it not only has the white horses, but also special bulls who are raised for both meat the the bull ring. (more later - NOT like Spanish bull fights. No one dies :) )
