We landed on the island of Corfu and took a bus to the area of the fortress (would you believe this town had a fortress?! LOL) No tour of the fortress, but a nice walk from there into the town and to the main square. The city dates back to the 5th century bc and is tied to the beginnings of Greek mythology. "Modern" history from the 17th century is that people from Venice came to the island to help protect it from the Turks, and the Venitians stayed for 400 years! It is another UNESCO city and the ancient city walls are still intact in many places.

We walked in the old town and enjoyed a tour in a small museum showing life in the 19th century when the British controlled the island. The museum is situated in a 19th century British palace. The rooms depict life at that time, and the animatronic mannikins were well done clever.

Following the town tour, we went to a private villa up in the hills with a fabulous view. We were treated to a cooking demonstration and a lovely lunch in a beautiful outdoor setting.

Lovely day!
